Vladimir Barović

Vladimir Barović is a full professor at the Department of Media Studies University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Philosophy. He received his Ph.D. in 2010 at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade, Serbia on “Reporting the crisis and ethics of journalism.” He graduated in 2004 at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad, Department of History. He received his master degree in 2007 at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad, Department of History. In 1998 he started working as a journalist on Radio 021. He studied at the Novi Sad School of Journalism during 1999-2000. From 2003 to 2007 he worked as a journalist for Radio Television of Vojvodina, where he worked for the news programme, and was also engaged in documentary projects. During this period, he covered many crisis stories which include the civic gatherings in Budapest and floods on the Danube and Tisza in 2006.

He has published a number of papers on the crisis situations in the country and abroad. His scientific research interest is directed towards reporting in crisis situations, working of desk in the modern media system, the history of journalism and media ethics. He gave several lectures in Serbian and English on the subject of reporting in times of crisis and emergency situations. He received numerous honors and awards from local governments, NGOs and humanitarian organizations for engagement in coverage of crises that threatened the region. He is a member of New York Historical Society, in the status “Educator Membership”.
